Testing the Waters

Not sure if it is a mid-life crisis or what. But I've been thinking a lot lately about what I want to be when I grow up. My kids are all growing up and pretty soon I will be left at home all alone. I been wondering what am I going to do. I've always enjoyed photography even as a little girl. My parents bought me my first SLR "manual" camera when I was only in 4th grade. While growing up we had a dark room down in our basement, that my dad would let dabble here and there and learn to develop my own film. In fifth grade I won State in the Science Fair, with my Science Fair Project on Aperture and Film speed. So I guess you can say that I have kind of always had a passion for shooting photos.

So as time moves on, I'm testing the waters...to see if I can make a run of things. I will be spending a lot of time this next year shooting photos, taking classes and trying to perfect the art.
So keeping in mind that I am just beginning...and have a long ways to go, I thought I would share some recent photos that I took of my kiddos. I think they are going to get sick of me taking their pictures :)

Ashlynn...our tween.
Kyle...My handsome Oldest child.

The Babe...Karson

Brinley...She will pose all day for me.

They get on each other's nerves...but I tell them... there is nothing like having a sister!

Warning...I have an obsession with shooting people from the back

...and railroad tracks. Brian calls this the "Rock Band" Picture.

Trying to be creative with the Sun flare. Haven't quite mastered it YET!

THE BIG OOOPS!
So I'm trying to be creative with catching the sun flares on the previous photos. BUT I forgot to adjust my settings after shooting the sun . Well that meant that I ended up with some VERY dark photos...almost black. I was really sad because I had some really cute shots. When I got home I uploaded them in photoshop to try to salvage them. Well this is what I ended up with. Kind of cool I think...Like "old fashiony"?

Maybe kind of like a Norman Rockwell painting? Stretching it aren't I?
I would love to hear what you think?

  3. Sarah I will be in Fillmore Sept. 25th for a class reunion. I could take pictures of your cute family then. Or if you wanted to wait until it was more "fallish" we could shoot for some time in October.
